999.9 (Four Nines) is a Japanese eyewear brand founded in 1995. The brand name derives from the number engraved on pure gold ingots: 999.9. In its original meaning, it indicates that “the gold has a purity of at least 999.9 parts per 1,000” — a mark of the highest-quality pure gold. In its craftsmanship, Four Nines pursues the possibility within that remaining 0.1 and strives for the highest level of quality. The name embodies the brand’s philosophy of continuously making efforts to come ever closer to perfection — to 1,000 — day after day.
